Home Improvement Leads / Legal / Privacy notice

Privacy notice

Website visitors, enquirers and customers of Home Improvement Leads and Recruitment Leads.

DRAFT. This text is a starting point and has not been checked by a solicitor. Replace the square-bracket items and have it reviewed before the site goes live.

This notice covers visitors to this website, people who contact us, and customers of our two lead services, Home Improvement Leads and Recruitment Leads. If we found your business in a public register and contacted you, see the notice for businesses we contact.

Who we are

The controller is [Registered business name], trading as sk0ut Group, [postal address], Bridgend, Wales ([company number, or "sole trader"]). Contact: thomas.michael.rees@gmail.com. ICO registration number: [number].

What we collect and why

  • Visiting the site. Our host (Netlify) keeps technical logs such as IP address and pages requested, for security and reliability (legitimate interests). With your agreement only, we use an analytics tool to count visits (consent). See the cookie policy.
  • Contact form and email. Your name, business name, email, phone number if you give it, and your message, to reply (legitimate interests, or steps before a contract). We keep enquiries for 12 months after the last contact.
  • Customers. Name, business name, email, trade, the areas you choose, the leads we send you, what you tell us you did with them (contacted, quoted, won, not relevant, job value) and payment status, to provide and bill for the service (contract) and to keep financial records (legal obligation). Card payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store card numbers.
  • Signing in. Customers sign in with their email address and a one-time link or code. Our database provider (Supabase) keeps a record of sign-ins, including the time and IP address, to keep accounts secure (legitimate interests). If you choose a weekly email, we use your address to send it (contract), and you can switch it off on your account page.
  • Forms. A security check (Cloudflare Turnstile) runs on forms to block automated abuse (legitimate interests).

Planning data

Home Improvement Leads are built from public council planning registers. We do not store or pass on applicants' or agents' names. We use the site address only as the location of the proposed work.

Who receives it

Service providers acting on our instructions: Netlify (hosting), Supabase (database and sign-in), Resend (email), Cloudflare (form protection), Stripe (payments), GitHub (code and automation), GoDaddy (domain), [analytics provider]. We do not sell personal data. Some providers are based outside the UK; where so, we rely on [UK adequacy regulations / the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework / the ICO International Data Transfer Agreement - confirm for each provider].

How long we keep it

Enquiries: 12 months after the last contact. Customer records: while you are a customer and 6 years after, for tax and accounts. Marketing suppression lists: until you ask us to remove you. [Confirm.] The detailed schedule is in our internal retention policy.

Automated decisions

We score planning applications and organisations to rank leads. This does not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about individuals.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, delete or restrict your data, object to its use, ask for it in a portable form, and withdraw consent at any time. Email thomas.michael.rees@gmail.com. We aim to answer within one month. If you are unhappy, please tell us first so we can put it right; you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113).
