Plans

Hear about the job before they hire anyone.

sk0ut reads the new planning applications in Bridgend every week, sorts them by type, and scores each one for builders, kitchen, window and solar firms. You get a short email with the ones worth a phone call.

How it works

Planning applications are public. The hard part is reading hundreds of them and spotting the ones that suit you.

  1. We collect

New applications from Bridgend Council's published weekly lists, with more South Wales councils to follow.

  2. We sort and score

Each one is tagged (extension, loft, new build, HMO, solar and more) and scored for your trade. Builders see projects with no architect or contractor named yet, kitchen fitters see extensions and conversions, window firms see new openings and glazing, solar firms see roofs, new builds and commercial units.

  3. You get the shortlist

One email with the best matches, a plain-English summary, a rough value, and a link to the council page.

Built for local trades

Each trade gets its own scoring. Builders get a separate shortlist of projects where no architect or contractor is named yet, while a new extension is a hot lead for a kitchen fitter and a solar array is not.

Questions

What does sk0ut mean?

Say it like "scout". We scout the council's public planning lists every week so local trades don't have to.

Where does the data come from?

Public planning registers published by each council. We organise and score it; we don't have access to anything private.

How accurate is the project value?

It's a rough guide based on the type and size of the work, not a quote. Treat it as a way to prioritise your calls.

Does an application mean they'll hire someone?

Not always. Some applicants already have a builder or architect. That is why we flag who is named on the application and score leads accordingly.

Do you give out homeowners' details?

No. Digests show the address, the work proposed and a link to the council's own page. We leave applicant names out by default.

I'm a builder. Which projects are for me?

Builders get two tiers. Tier A is homeowner-submitted projects with no architect or agent named, so the builder is still open. Tier B is designer-led schemes that are likely to go out to tender once approved. Each lead shows a rough build value so you can focus on the right size of job.

How fresh are the leads?

The council publishes each week's list about two weeks after it closes, so leads reach you roughly 11 to 19 days after registration. That is early in the project, and most still need a builder and fittings months later.

Can I cancel?

Yes, at any time. Your plan runs to the end of the month you've paid for.
